City commences with roadworks along Olieboom Road in Philippi

16 April 2026

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate hereby informs residents and road users that roadworks on Olieboom Road between Varkensvlei Road and Punt Road are starting today. Work will take place until 22 May 2026 between 08:00 and 16:30, Monday to Friday, and on weekends between 09:00 and 15:30. Residents and business owners are requested not to park on the affected road area during construction.

‘The project will entail the resurfacing of the road as well as repair work to damaged sections. Improving the water runoff along Olieboom Road and to have it completed before the heavy rains arrive are also key outcomes for this project. Once complete, road users will be able to enjoy improved driving conditions. We apologise for any inconvenience and noise caused and thank all road users for their patience and cooperation while these essential improvements are carried out,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

The work will include cleaning areas along the road and fresh road markings will be restored once completed.
